Teachers in Y1-Y6 use medium term planning for each programme of study in the national curriculum. Nursery & Reception teachers use the Early Years framework.
Medium term plans set out a sequence of lessons in all subjects so that content, knowledge and skills are taught systematically and explicitly in logical progression to enable children to build on prior learning to achieve clear outcomes.
Some medium term plans come from formal schemes and are adapted by teachers to meet the needs of their pupils. These include our Maths, French, Computing, PSHE, P.E. and D.T schemes and the agreed local LA Religious Education syllabus. Medium term plans for English Science, History, Geography and Art are developed by the school- some examples below.
Our Music programme meets the requirements of the national curriculum and is in part devised by the school but also accesses some music schemes including Charanga, Jolly Music and the Islington Music Scheme.
All plans are working documents which are reviewed and revised by teachers and leaders to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for our pupils by the end of a unit of study.
