School Uniform Policy

Our uniform encourages a sense of belonging.

Gillespie’s school uniform comprises of navy and yellow garments with the school’s sunflower logo. The school uniform is compulsory for all children from Reception class to Year 6.

We ask that your child not wear expensive items such as jewellery and watches, and that their outer clothing and sportswear are clearly marked with their name.

Children at Gillespie can wear any of the following items:

  • Navy outerwear- sweatshirt, cardigan, fleece or body warmer
  • Gold/yellow polo shirt
  • White shirt/blouse
  • Black/ dark grey skirt or pinafore dress
  • Black/ dark grey trousers or shorts (no tracksuit bottoms or leggings)
  • Blue & white or yellow & white summer dress
  • Navy or yellow hijab
  • Black sensible shoes, trainers or boots (no heels or open toed sandals)

 

We are happy for parents to buy any of the above items as non branded from all suppliers including supermarkets. Parents who wish their children to wear branded/embroidered navy sweatshirts and yellow polo shirts can purchase these from our supplier Rough Cut Casuals Ltd as well as embroidered backpacks. It is not a requirement that children wear branded uniform.

PE Kit requirements

  • Plain white, black or navy t-shirt (full length not cropped)
  • Plain black or navy joggers, shorts or leggings
  • Trainers

Children should come to school on their designated PE days in their PE kit. Items do not need a school logo.

 

Used uniform

The school PTA FoG regularly run used uniform stalls where families can get recycled uniform for free or a small donation.
