At Gillespie School we teach children French ensuring that we meet the requirements of the National Curriculum for learning Modern Foreign Languages in Primary Schools.

Class teachers teach French from Years 3 to Year 6 using the interactive Language Angels teaching tool and scheme which provides planning, guidance and support for teachers and pupils. All spoken language is modelled aurally using videos and voice recordings to ensure that pronunciation is correct. Many of our children are multi-lingual and we see learning a modern foreign language as an important stepping stone for the next stage of their education in secondary school.
