This term Reception’s topic is Life Cycles. This means that they are learning about the different stages of growth in different animals.

Specifically, they have been looking at the life cycles of tadpoles and caterpillars. To do this, the class has a tank for tadpoles, and a small container for caterpillars. They observe the small creatures on a daily basis while learning and memorising the different stages in their lives. At the moment, the tadpoles and caterpillars are growing slowly. The children are keeping the tadpoles at the back of the classroom and the caterpillars on their teachers desk so that the can look at them any time.  As an extra piece of learning, children have been writing independent sentences about the tadpoles, and then making tadpole figures out of plasticine.
