It was an absolute pleasure to see the boys play on Friday. They showed real determination and amazing sportsmanship. I couldn’t have been prouder. I arrived during the Ashmount game in the group stage and really didn’t think we’d made it through the group. But due to 3 of the teams in the group gaining the same amount of points we went through due to goals we scored. From then on it felt like our day and it was. Well done to all the boys, especially Ethan, who now has his arm in a cast for 4 weeks.

The boys have written a match report of the day….enjoy!

Group stages

Our first game was against Yerbury and the score was 0-0. It was a close game, we controlled the game but unfortunately missing many chances. The match was mostly played in midfield.

Our second game ended 1-1 against ST. Mary Mags our goal came from Sammy D as he volleyed it nicely into the net. Their goal came from a muddle in our penalty box.

Our third game was against Ashmount and it unfortunately ended 2-1 to Ashmount we didn’t play well in the first half so we went down 2-0 but we came back in the second half playing much better, unluckily only scoring one goal.

Semi-final

The whistle has blown, that’s the start of the semi-finals. GILLESPIE –CANUNBURY, Gillespie give away a corner. Canunbury cross it in, controlled, shot, just skimmed off the post .James knocks it forward, Fred controls it lays it off to Sean he shoots, but it goes straight at the G.K. Ref blows the whistle first half finished. Second half kicks off, with the scores 0-0. James knocks it forward to Sammy D. , who headers it to Bonnie who shoots it past the goalie, GOAL! 1-0 to Gillespie. Bonnie gives a through ball to Sammy D down the line who manages to keep it in play. Sammy D cuts in lays it off to Bonnie, who shoots it   past the keeper , but it is a goal it looks like it when in, every one says its not a goal, but the refs gives us the goal. 2-0 to Gillespie, the ref blows his whistle!

Final

It was Gillespie vs ST. Josephs. The whistle blew, the start of the Finals. Sammy.D. made a run for goal passed to Freddie and Freddie crossed it back to Sammy.D. and curled it round the goal-keeper. The next goal, Sean ran for goal someone tripped him up and the goal-keeper hit it and Sean headed it in and fell over. That is how we won!!!!!!
