On a bright and chilly Sunday in December, I had the pleasure of accompanying Ethan and his parents to Chelsea’s academy to watch the under 11’s play, this fixture was Chelsea v West Ham.

Driving into the grounds it felt like I was going to a very luxurious country manor estate. I was shown where the first team train and their facilities. I got to see all the different pitches for all the different age groups and I got to meet Ethan’s coach and team mates.  The facilities and space that they have are amazing and I felt privileged to be there.

Ethan had told me that they lost to West Ham last season so their team wanted to make sure that didn’t happen again! They played 2 games and won both of them. The level of football on display was outstanding. These under 11’s certainly know how to play and are a very talented group.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Chelsea and to Ethan’s parents for giving me the opportunity to see what Ethan is a part of outside of school. It made the pitch at Gillespie look even smaller!
